Spectral Applied Research have been experts in the laser launch systems to years.  Working in collaboration they have been able to design module to work with the Olympus DSU spinning disk confocal system.  Now we can add laser illumination into the DSU at the time of purchase or onto current DSU systems.

LMM5 Laser Merge Module

Many modern instruments can utilize several laser wavelengths for illumination. The LMM5 sets a new standard for laser merge modules. The LMM5 couples the light from 1 to 5 solid state lasers into a single fiber optic cable. The light from the fiber can be used to drive a number of devices but the LMM5 was designed with confocal and TIRF microscopy in mind. The LMM5 has the performance and control characteristics that make it ideally suited to the requirements of modern live cell imaging.

The LMM5 uses shutters for positive on/off control with rapid switching time. A continuously variable ND (neutral density) filter wheel allows for individual laser power control to optimize exposures. All controls are through a USB port although the shutters. This equipment is intended to use Class IIIb lasers so that the Laser Merge Module is classified as a Class IIIb laser product. The LMM5 is designed to meet the requirements of European standard IEC 60825-1.

Procyon Illuminator for the Olympus DSU

Until now, the Olympus DSU spinning disk confocal has only been used with an arc lamp. The new Procyon laser illumination system enables greater flexibility in configuring the DSU for your research requirements. In addition to the versatility of an arc lamp source, Procyon now allows the user to experience the power, speed and spectral purity that only lasers can provide.
